Ibrahim Afellay, Barcelona

Afellay with his parents

"When I was a kid, I wanted to play for Barça – it was a dream. We all know that it is the best place to play football and when I heard about their interest I didn’t think twice, I just felt – sign now and close the deal quickly." said muslim soccer player, Ibrahim Afellay when signed the contract with Barcelona on December 2010.

Afellay added, "That’s normal at a club like this where there are so many quality players, but I’ll fight for my place. I don’t mind where I play – wherever the boss wants me, I’ll do my very best."

Good luck Afellay, may Allah guide and bless you.

  9. The guy on the right is his brother because Ibrahim's father passed away when he was 6. I should know because he is my cousin. Thanks or all you support and Ramadan Karim.

  11. It's not his father .. It's Ali, his brother with his mum.
Afellay lost his father at age nine when he suffered a heart attack..

  12. It hurts me when i hear him use the nickname "Ibi". That's because his name is Ibrahim. One of the holy prophets in Islam. Please use your full name. And be proud of it: Ibrahim.

  18. Sorry to squash all the Muslims out there who think Ibrahim is their hero. He's from Holland and is Moroccan (Berber) ethnic. Us Moroccans are not crazy Islamists like Pakistanis and we do not represent Middle East either. In fact we identify ethnically much more with say Spaniards and Portuguese, but obviously the majority are Muslims. But not like Middle East or Paki Muslims, no thanks. Viva Ibrahim, do us proud in Espana.

    1. muslims are all equal no matter what their colour, races orgins are so if ur sayin ur a muslim then act like a proper one because we are one ummah

  19. For example, you look at Ibrahim, he looks much more like Ronaldo than someone from the Middle East or Pakistan (ugh!). His father, very much characteristic of Ronaldo's father or brother. We are berber first and foremost, we do not care for Middle East Muslims and Pakis from Pakistan who think mightly Allah is greater than any other Gods and hate on the western world. You people give Muslims a bad name, we Moroccans are majority Muslim obviously but we are not Arabic (either ethically or culturally) and God forbid we have nothing to do with Muslim people from places like Pakistan.

  21. To the Anonymous guy who started taking about us "Moroccans" not being like other muslims and being more ethnically like Spainiards or Portuguese. firstly, pls sepak for yourself and don't speak about all Moroccans coz myself and every other Moroccan i know would tell you that a muslim is a muslim no matter where he comes from. In fact this is the main difference between us muslims and others.

  22. Secondly, if you feel that you are more tied and represent the ppl who occuipied us (and still do occupy parts of our land) then i realy question your nationalism as a Moroccan. Thirdly, the middle-easterns and other muslims that look ugly in your eyes are the same ppl where our profits Mohammed (pbuh), Gesus (pbuh), Moses (pbuh), Yusuf (pbuh) who are known to be icons towards how they looked-like hame come from.Lastly, i hope you growup some day and be proud of yourself and your ppl rahter than jumping on the bandwagon of others trying to melt yourself with them (spainiards and portugese) when they only see you as a bug at the most (which is correct somehow by looking at your views). Until then, peace (which our Quran suggests we say to Ignorants when we communicate with)
